Maria Agustina is a fearless teenager when marriage came to knock her door. Married at seventeen took from her all the dreams study in a university like her brothers, travel around the world like her father or make some scientific discoveries like many she had read in the uncountable books.

Maria Augustina wasn’t ready for the changes the marriage brought, much lee for the visions tormenting day after day with images of a woman, a cave and beautiful primitive paintings. One she got pregnant form her first child, Maria took a hard decision and aborted the baby. Suffering the stress between the act and the religion, disguising the pain from Don Calvados, Maria ends in a trip to a friend house where she will find some answers to her questions, but much more than that. She will meet the woman in the cave and explore the paints.

When return home, life had changed, she now knew what to do and why. One year after seeing the Bull, Maria Augustina give birth to her first child. Life continue in a straight line, a traditional straight line. From pregnancy to pregnancy, each child took some part from her, leaving in the end an empty vessel.

Don Calvados climbed to the highest position in the local society, but even his wealthy and power where enough to avoid death. In the end, Maria Augustina, widowed move to live with one of her daughters, Quintina and in a last turn of the web of time, Quintina’sfamily moved to beyond the Atlantic, to the new continent. A new life for a rebel.
